Privacy Policy
effective 7 November 2026
Dreemy is a dream journal. Your dreams are private, so the app is built to keep them on your phone. This policy explains what that means in practice.
The short version
- No account. You never sign up or log in.
- The app does not send your dreams to the developer or to any server of its own.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
- Your dreams are never used to train AI.
What the app stores, and where
Everything you write (dreams, tags, ratings, lucidity practice, night check-ins) is stored only on your device, in the app's own storage. The developer cannot see it.
Anything you write on the "let it go" page before sleep is never saved: it disappears as you watch.
Your device backups include it, like any other app's data. If you have turned on iCloud Backup, that backup is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and protected by Apple (end-to-end encrypted if you use Advanced Data Protection). Dreemy does not use iCloud sync or any server of its own. If automatic backups are on in the app, a backup file is also saved once a week in the app's folder on your iPhone (Files → On My iPhone → Dreemy).
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete any dream in the app, or delete everything by deleting the app. Copies in device backups made before that stay until those backups are replaced or deleted. Exports you saved or sent somewhere else are outside the app, so delete them there.
Reading your dreams
- Voice. If you speak a dream in the app, the microphone audio is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, set to run on the device only. The audio is not saved and not uploaded.
- Insights. Tidying up your words (fixing typos) and finding themes, moods and patterns are done on your device with Apple's NaturalLanguage framework and, where available, Apple Intelligence (on-device Foundation Models). Nothing is sent to a server for this.
- Siri and Shortcuts. If you log a dream with Siri or Shortcuts, Apple's own Siri privacy terms apply to that request.
Apple Health
If you allow it, Dreemy reads your sleep times from Apple Health to show how sleep and dreams connect. It only reads sleep data, never writes to Health, and never sends Health data anywhere. Health data is not used for advertising or shared with anyone. You can turn access off any time in the Settings app → Health → Data Access & Devices → Dreemy.
App lock
If you turn on the lock, Dreemy uses Face ID, Touch ID or your iPhone passcode through Apple's own system. The app only learns whether it succeeded; nothing about your face or fingerprint leaves Apple's secure chip. A passcode just for Dreemy, if you set one, is kept on your device.
Widgets and reminders
Widgets read a summary the app saves in a shared area on the same device: recent dream titles and excerpts, short quotes from past dreams, dream signs, and the people and places that come up most. Some widgets show these on your Home Screen or Lock Screen. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device; the morning reminder never shows anything from your dreams. Widgets and notifications can be seen by anyone who looks at your screen, so choose what to show with that in mind.
Sharing and exports
When you export your journal or share an image, the file goes only where you choose to send it (for example Files, Mail or Messages). What happens to it after that is up to you and that service.
If you save your Year in Dreams card, the app asks for add-only Photos access. It can add that image to your library; it cannot see your photos.
Purchases
The app checks your purchase with the App Store. Any in-app purchase, restore or code redemption is handled by Apple. The developer does not receive your payment details. Apple's own privacy policy applies to that.
Permissions
The app may ask for the microphone and speech recognition (voice entries), notifications (reminders), Apple Health sleep data (sleep insights), Face ID (the app lock) and add-only Photos (saving the Year card). Each is optional, and you can turn any of them off at any time in the Settings app.
Children
Dreemy is not directed at children under 13. The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
